Material Practice
Ground & Surface Method
Canvas preparation begins with custom-stretched heavy cotton duck and unbleached Belgian linen. Multiple coats of archival gesso are hand-sanded to build a stable, non-porous ground that preserves the intensity of raw oil pigments.
Color fields are built through successive impasto applications using pure mineral pigments and slow-drying oils. This physical layering creates dynamic surface topography that catches ambient light and alters appearance throughout the day.
